Chapter 1
“Hey Helty how are you doing today?”
A cute blonde girl asked as she came into the club. Every weekend when she came in, she did the same thing, came over to Helty flirting and rubbing all over him, batting those long eyelashes right in his direction.
Helty was the bouncer at three different clubs here in California, and loved at every one of them. The woman absolutely adored him, the bosses loved him, and the other bouncers loved him. The only people who didn't love him were the men who got too drunk and had to meet his uppercut.
As many woman who flirted with him, and attempted to get him into their beds, you'd think that he'd have tons of girlfriends. The truth was, he had only been with three woman his entire life. He knew how to dance though, and he had a great personality, so these combined, made the woman drool over him.
He honestly didn't like all of these woman who threw themselves at him, because he thought to himself, if they are this easy at the club when they got drunk, he'd have to constantly worry about them being faithful, and this was just something he didn't want to do. He knew when he found the right woman for him, he'd know.
The day finally came when he least expected it. It was a typical Saturday night. The woman were flooding into the busiest club that he worked in, and he had woman all over him from the time he got there, until he saw her.
She came in, and was almost hidden from view because of the woman that she came with. The beautiful woman, with long hair, way too much make-up on, and shorts that were too short, and shirts that showed way too much belly. Then there was Anne, of course he didn't know her name for a long time. He tried to talk to her right when she came in, and for the first time in his career, got the cold shoulder.
This, of course, was the biggest turn on to him that he could imagine. He never had woman actually turn their back on him when he was trying to talk to them. The other four woman that were with her, all tried to pick him up when she gave him that cold shoulder, and walk away.
“Is she a lesbian?” he asked, honestly wondering.
“No, she is in the middle of a nasty divorce. Her husband has spent the past ten years beating her and bringing her down, and she's not looking to get in another relationship. But, if you want, the three of us girls... we can keep you busy for quite some time.” The leader of the girls, a bubbly blonde woman said.
“Wow, really, who would beat on a beautiful woman like that?” Helty announced, looking above the woman's heads, to her. They looked at him in disgust. They didn't see what he saw. What they saw was a broken woman, with limp hair, ugly clothes, because that's what she was used to wearing, and no make-up.
Helty saw her jeans as an accent to her body. Her baby t-shirt hugged her top portion of her body, showing off her small tits. They looked to be a b cup. If Helty knew anything about woman, he knew their breast size just by looking at them.
“No thank you woman. I would rather talk to Anne.” Helty said matter-of-fact. The other woman looked hurt.
“Well, good luck. We call her the ice queen. Come on Helty, she isn't even any fun! She refuses to drink, which is about the only reason why we bring her along, she is our dd. Plus, she is the most responsible, so she'll talk us out of doing anything that is dumb once we get drunk!” The other brunette bimbo said to him. He looked at her, not believing how woman were. They always had to bring along a female that they felt was uglier than they were, so that it made them look better.
'Disgusting.' he thought. He moved away, allowing them all space, but kept an eye on them all night. When he finally saw his chance, when she went to the restroom, he waited until she came out and made his move.
“Hey there...I'm sorry, it seems like we got off on the wrong foot. My name is Helty, what's yours?” She kept her head down as he was talking to her, the corners of her mouth pulled down into a frown. He reached out slowly, not wanting to startle her. He took his pointer finger, and reached out to her chin, and tilted up.
“Beautiful, don't keep your head down. You are much better than that. Walk with your head held high, with confidence. That man took ten years from your life, don't let him continue to take from you.” Her eyes suddenly softened.
“Who...? They told you?” She asked, but didn't seem angry.
“Yes, but don't be angry with them, I threatened to kick them out if they didn't.” She looked shocked, until she looked up into his eyes, and saw the smile.
“Isn't your girlfriends, or wife going to be angry you are talking to me?” She asked, now accusation in her tone.
“I'm single.” She didn't look convinced. “Actually, believe it or not, I've only been with less than a handful of woman. I've had just a few relationships, no one night stands, and never brought a woman home from the bar, or club.”
“Oh really?” She put her hands on her hips, but the ice had left her stare. “Then why are you trying to hit on me?”
“Because, you aren't like the normal girls who come here. Look around, you are different from every other woman here.” He lifted his hand, slowly again, and tucked a strand of hair that came out of her ponytail, behind her ear. Her softened eyes met his, and they seemed like the only two in the entire club. Then suddenly, disaster struck.
“Helty! Oh my God! Is it really you? Oh my God! We haven't seen each other in years!” Helty didn't even have to turn to know who that voice belonged to.
'No!' he thought to himself. This had to be the worse timing that any bitch had. He didn't even want to turn around and look at her. He wanted to say to her, 'go away not a good time.'
Suddenly a woman who was a little bigger then Anne came running up at Helty, and threw herself in his arms.
“Baby? Don't even pretend like you don't know me! We dated for two years, and you want to act like this?” She then turned to where Helty was staring.
“Oh, I see, you got a new hoe you are wanting! I see! So I'm not important to you anymore?” He looked back at Anne, and it looked as though she could shoot daggers out of her eyes at him.
“Really?” She shouted.
“No! Anne, listen!” he tried, but she was already gone, heading back to where her friends were, probably to tell them to pack it up and go to another club.
“Mags, you really have a bad habit of timing things! You saw I was talking with someone, yet still you run up and ruin it? That was intentional wasn't it?” He growled at her. She batted her eyelashes, and turned around and left. When he looked back through the club, Anne was nowhere to be found, but he did find one of her friends, heading out the door, and he put a note in her hand. When she looked at him, he whispered:
“For Anne, please!” She rolled her eyes, and headed out the door. He groaned and went back to work.
TWO MONTHS LATER:
He was checking id's at the door, when he saw her again.
“Anne!” he said, excited to see her. He was afraid that he'd never see her again. She only rolled her eyes and crossed her arms in front of her chest.
“Please, give me a chance. I know that looked bad, but it wasn't how it looked! Dinner, tomorrow night, please.” He begged. They were holding the line up, and anxious men and woman were beginning to whine at him.
“If y'all don't shut up, you won't get in at all!” He yelled back at them. They all got quiet.
“I'll keep you out here the whole night, and you're going to have an angry mob behind you. Now, please, just take my number, and promise me that you'll call me.” He pleaded again, focusing all attention back on her. She rolled her eyes again, but this time, took the number, and agreed.
2 DAYS LATER:
A strange number appeared on his caller id, and he answered it, having no idea who was calling him on his one day off from work. He swore under his breath if it was anyone calling him in, he would tell them he was out of state.
